Equipment

The computing environment at TCS laboratory is described below. (Moreover, further information about it is available here but with access restrictions.) Other equipment (that is, office machinery such as printers, copiers, faxes, scanners, and video guns) are not dealt with.

Personal Workstations

The TCS intranet consists of more than forty personal workstations interconnected via ethernet. Most of the workstations run Debian Linux but there are also Windows machines.

During 2007, the laboratory has managed to replace some twenty of the personal workstations with new ones. These new machines have 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo E63xx dualcore processor, 2GB memory, and 250GB disk each.

Network Servers

The TCS intranet also contains several server machines, of which the most notable are the firewall server, the nfs file server, the mail server, and the www server. All these run Debian Linux.

Computing Cluster

In summer 2007, a 20-node computing cluster running Rocks Linux was taken into use. See here for more details.
